The Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba offers a variety of workshops in-order to successfully educate individuals on mental illness and addictions and co-occurring mental illness. Our workshops strive to successfully equip individuals with the necessary tools required to provide help or assistance to those in need. Each workshop is facilited by a MDAM employee or volunteer with lived experience of a mental illness or addiction. These workshops are offered at no cost or at a reduced cost.

Workshops

Cognitive Behavior Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) aims to help individual to uncover and alter distortions of thought or perception in-order to change their behaviour and emotional state. The Cognitive behavior therapy workshop offered during the span of 4 weeks. The objective of CBT is to teach individuals the building blocks of self-help recovery.

Mental Health First Aid

MHFA Basic is intended for adults interacting with adults (18 years and older). This courses focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance related, mood related, anxiety and trauma related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces. A certificate upon completion of the course will be mailed out to participants. This course is $100. Register here.

Nutrition & Mental Health

The Nutrition and mental health workshop is a one-day workshop that provides insight into the importance of healthy eating habits and behaviors as part of the overall treatment plan for everyone. Especially those who are living with a mental illness, substance abuse and co-occurring mental illness. This course is $25.00. Part 1 Register here. Part 2 Register here.

Shame & Resiliency

This workshop focuses on shame and shame resiliency through a 10-week period. Individuals are educated on shame, vulnerability and empathy. This workshop provides an opportunity for individuals to learn about themselves. This course is $50.
